Fotoeins Friday in the Bahamas: breezy beach drinks

Deep from the archives:

In the Bahamas, the bulk of the month-long stay is in Nassau on New Providence. Tonight we’ve headed over to adjacent Paradise Island where there’s a reserved table for sunset drinks at Dune at the Ocean Club. Formerly owned by The One and Only corporation, the property is now run by Four Seasons. The onshore ocean breeze brings in the intermittent crash of the surf, in contrast with constant chatter from inside the bar. The cold drinks and the setting sun provide additional relief from the humid tropical afternoon.

During my year-long RTW, I made the photo above on 13 May 2012 with a Canon EOS450D/Rebel XSi and the following settings: 1/320-sec, f/14, ISO100, and 55mm focal length (88mm full-frame equivalent). This post appears on Fotoeins Fotografie at fotoeins DOT com as https://wp.me/p1BIdT-isi.

Eat Like A Bahamian: 4 Ways to Get Conched

I’m basking in the Bahamian sun, collecting rays and passing time on the warm white sand.

It’s not long before I’m learning how to eat like a Bahamian. I’m craving for conch, peas and rice, and cold Kalik beer.

Fotoeins Friday: Caged in Nassau

It’s not long after setting foot and spending time in the Bahamian city of Nassau when signs of great wealth and great poverty begin to stand out, with visitors pouring out of the enormous cruise ships and residents making ends meet with modest fishing boats and conch stands. Near Junkanoo Beach, this piece of art appears on the wall of an abandoned building surrounded by a chain-link fence. Who is represented in the mural? Who is caged in, behind the fence? The bahamas.com website? The city? The country? Her people?

I made the photo above on 3 May 2012 near Junkanoo Beach, known also as Western Esplanade Beach or Long Wharf. This post appears on Fotoeins Fotopress at fotoeins.com, and also appears on Travel Photo Thursday for Nancie McKinnon’s Budget Travelers Sandbox.
