Fotoeins Friday: RTW10, California

10 years ago, I began an around-the-world (RTW) journey lasting 389 consecutive days, from 24 December 2011 to 15 January 2013 inclusive.

31 Dec 2011.

On California Street between Stockton and Powell, this downhill view faces northeast to the Bay Bridge at centre in the background. Two sets of tracks embedded in the pavement are for the cable car route on California Avenue, available to both residents and visitors. There are three cable car routes in downtown San Francisco: California (C; no.61), Powell-Hyde (PH; no.60), and Powell-Mason (PM; no.59).

I made the photo above on 31 Dec 2011 with a Canon EOS450D (Rebel XSi) and these settings: 1/800-sec, f/4, ISO100, and 50mm focal length (80mm full-frame equivalent). This post appears on Fotoeins Fotografie at fotoeins DOT com as

Thanks, Cornelia. For 2022, I will highlight many favourite and memorable places, including locations in the U.S., The Bahamas, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Cape Town, and Germany. Sometimes it’s difficult to fathom how I could’ve done that trip, especially now given the current pandemic. I hope you’re all doing well; happy holidays!
