Fotoeins Friday in the Bahamas: chat and chill

As part of a month-long stay in the Bahamas, my friends and I are on a short flight from Nassau airport on New Providence Island to Exuma International Airport on Great Exuma Island. We’re headed to George Town, about 15 km northeast of Exuma airport. The following day we’re on a water taxi for the short 1.6 km trip across the water northeast to Stocking Island. It’s merely a day to do absolutely nothing, except soaking some sun, sit all slack on the beach, and occasionally, dip the head and feet into the water, where manta rays might occasionally float by to say hi. Hungry? There’s always Chat `N Chill whose owners have entertained visitors from around the world.

During my year-long RTW, I made the photo above on 27 May 2012 with a Canon EOS450D/Rebel XSi and the following settings: 1/250-sec, f/5.6, ISO100, and 44mm focal length (70mm full-frame equivalent). This post appears on Fotoeins Fotografie at fotoeins DOT com as https://wp.me/p1BIdT-ilp.

      As I get older, I’m discovering I’m liking cool moist/cold snowy winters less and less. At least images of the tropics help to warm things up a little. The Bahamas are a beautiful place to soak the sun on white sandy beaches and enjoy the warm clear waters. Thanks for stopping by!

      I’ve heard a few people say that actually. For me, since it’s constantly 33 degrees in Singapore, cold snowy winters once a year is still perfect. You should visit Singapore someday during winter there. It’s a warm beautiful city in a garden. 🙂

      On my year-long journey around the planet in 2012, I spent a couple of days in early July in Singapore, a deliberate stop in between longer-duration stays in both Hong Kong and New Zealand. Singapore would be mostly about food; I tried to eat at a number of the food/hawker centres, but a couple of days is nowhere enough time. I also wish I had made higher-resolution images of the food and places. But I liked using the MRT; Chinatown station described as “牛車水” was a wonderful revelation for me, because I’ve always known the (North American) interpretation of Chinatown as “唐人街”. And I discovered really liking kway teow mee 😋

      Wow 1 year travel holiday! Yeah Singapore has great food. I shall ask my kid about those Chinese characters, I’ve lived here for 2 decades and I don’t know any Chinese words, my son on the other hand is fluent and could do higher Chinese as well. 🙂

      Let’s see if your son agrees with the following. 牛車水 is literally “cow/ox cart water”, and 唐人街 is literally “Tang/Tong person street”. Then again, I had help with the website “Learn Cantonese” and its online dictionary 😅 I should point out that what most call Chinese is the dominant “Mandarin” dialect which I don’t know at all. I grew up with Cantonese, and I am most familiar with the old traditional script and not the simplified script which looks a lot like Japanese to me 🤷🏻‍♂️
