Fotoeins Friday in the Munich Metro: Marienplatz
I highlight the interiors of four U-Bahn metro stations in Munich, Germany:
6 November – Georg-Brauchle-Ring,
13 November – Lehel,
20 November – Marienplatz, and
27 November – Westfriedhof.
At the familiar orange that is Marienplatz, the U6 train has just departed for Klinikum Grosshadern. Marienplatz serves the U-Bahn U3 and U6 lines, and is also a major transfer hub for S-Bahn trains.

Henry, this was my station for uncountable years to get off to the bookstore I worked for back than when I lived in Germany. 50 years before that I had to use the Trambahn , ich meine Strassenbahn and buses to get to Marienplatz.

Hi, Cornelia, and thanks for sharing some of your history in Munich. Recently, I watched on YouTube “U-Bahn für München 1965” with footage of construction for the new U-Bahn line (now U6). At street level near U6 Nordfriedhof, there is in the present day a simple monument to this very first construction.

Facts I was not aware of, amazing to watch the constructions back than, wonderful to see those mayors of Munich back than in those days. You really gave me a gift, to remind me of those old days .
