Fotoeins Friday: Stockholm call to summer
From the vantage point of neighbouring Skeppsholmen island, the Old Town in Stockholm beckons softly to the visitor with visual promises of pointed roofs, colourful facades, and narrow passageways. Summer days are very long and there’s little “dark of night” at these high latitudes; there’s no point going to sleep when the sun pops back up at 330 in the morning. But wherever you are in Stockholm, there’s always something new to find in either open spaces or hidden corners, by day or at night.

The Old Town of Stockholm is beautiful as in so many other cities. Till last year I had been there very often but now as I live in Germany I doubt I will visit Stockholm anytime soon 🙂

Hi, Timo. I was very fortunate to have visited Stockholm just after summer solstice a number of years ago. The city and surrounding area are beautiful. Perhaps there’s an irony that you’re not all that far from Stockholm, but you have greater immediate concerns with responsibilities and obligations.

OMG, I am thrilled that I just recently stumbled upon your blog, through Tricia Mitchell. One my way from Los Angeles to Germany/Munich in September I will have a stop over in Stockholm for 3 days, staying on the boat , Amistan or something like that. I have in mind for one day taking a boat trip to Archipelago , any suggestions?? BTW I love your blog

Hi and thanks, Cornelia! You’ve replied to my one-picture post on summertime in Stockholm, and at the bottom of the post I have a post with the title “Daytrip to Vaxholm in Stockholm’s archipelago.” Please have a look; I think a daytrip into the archipelago is very worthwhile. I chose to go to Vaxholm, because it’s one of the larger towns in the archipelago. I love boats, so, the boat ride there and back were a big thrill for me.
