Fotoeins Friday: “Sic transit gloria mundi” (Berlin Charlottenburg)
Even an overcast day with a little bit of light rain can’t spoil the fact that the Charlottenburg palace is a highlight in the capital city of Berlin. Accessible by bus, U-Bahn, or S-Bahn, a visit to the palace buildings and surroundings can easily occupy a good half-day. I walked the grounds for a couple of hours, and imagined what today’s beautiful green space must have been like in centuries past. I will have “guided” the golden statue at the top of the main building just to make the inevitable statement about the past, present, and future: “And so it goes, the world …”
