Super Sunday Sunset

Super Bowl Sunday : New York Giants 21 – New England Patriots 17.

This past Sunday the skies were beautiful, bright, and clear in Vancouver. That meant people were out and about to enjoy the short break in between the winter-grey blahs.

What about us?

We missed the entire game.

Instead, we hung out in downtown and the West End, and went to a couple of bars for some beer and drinks (in places where the game was not shown or not a priority). Eventually, we made our way to First Beach.

Here is evidence of a golden sunset over English Bay with the mountains of Vancouver Island in the distance …

That’s my kind of super Sunday.

I made all three photos above 5 February 2012 with the Canon EOS450D (XSi) and 70-300mm zoom-lens. This post appears originally on Fotoeins Fotopress (fotoeins.com).

Beautiful sunset photo. When I first saw the colours, I thought it was a desert scene. It’s incredible that it’s actually water.

Hi, Lily – were you reminded of the desert sunsets you’d seen? 🙂 Not only were conditions beautiful, winds stayed relatively low, which even in short exposures gave the water a relatively smooth appearance. Thanks for your lovely comments!

Thanks, Anita! 🙂 I would’ve have minded watching some/all of the Super Bowl, but it just worked out better that the group of us kept sipping and chatting. Although we’d look occasionally at the screen for an updated score (or check on someone’s smartphone), we stayed “out” of the game.
